Our Projects

Young Innovators Challenge
2016-2017 / 2018-2019

Funded initially by Digicel and other private sector partners, and later Expo Live-Expo Dubai 2020, this project was undertaken to promote innovation through entrepreneurship.

It helped to provide seed funding to young entrepreneurs with creative and innovative ideas, and to enhance and foster a spirit of entrepreneurship throughout Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

Craft Enhancement and
Business Planning Project

Funded by the OAS 2014, this project was implemented regionally in the islands of Jamaica, Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent, Antigua, and St. Kitts, and sought to strengthen the productive capacity of producers to diversity and improve the quality of crafts in the islands.

In Grenada, the project was implemented by GIDC, supported by the Grenada Bureau of Standards and the Ministry of Trade, and supervised by the Grenada Tourism Authority. Key achievements included the upskilling of 21 craft artisans in product development and entrepreneurial skills development. The artisans received individualized training to make their designs innovative.

MSME Economic Recovery
Grant Programme

The MSME Economic Recovery Grant programme which was funded by the UNDP, supervised by the Ministry of Finance, and implemented by the GIDC provided grant funding to existing enterprises negatively impacted by COVID-19 to undertake small projects/activities valued up to a maximum of EC$10,800.

The purpose of the programme was to assist the enterprises to transition business operations into online/digital/home safe deliveries.

Increasing the Value
Added to Nutmeg

Funded by the Caribbean Development Bank under its CARTFUND Programme 2013-2016.

The GIDC signed a grant agreement with the Caribbean Development Bank in 2013 under its Caribbean Aid for Trade and Regional Integration Trust Fund (CARTfund) programme to increase the production and export of value-added nutmeg products utilizing the pericarp.

The key milestones under this project included the formation of the Genesis Added Value Nutmeg Co-operative Society Limited, trained trainers and women agro-processors in the production of the products, facilitated the production, wholesale, and retail of 12 varieties of jams and jellies by the women agro-processors, developed a formulations manual, refurbished and equipped the Produce Chemist Laboratory as well as facilitated the access to local markets for the products.
